Today i got a wonderful opportunity to give a presentation on “21st century Education for tribal schools : Lessons learnt from a transforming world.”
The session was given for the school principals of Ekalavya Model Residential Schools of Maharashtra, a modern residential CBSE school system for the tribal children. The session went for about 2 hours, about double the time allotted, humbled and motivated by their patience and positive feedback.
The presentation covers
- the importance aspects of education in relation to Maslow’s heirarchy of needs,
- Special role of schools in tribal setup
- the differences between formal, informal and hidden (deep) curriculum;
- the advances in neuroscience and psychology; it’s implication in education
- a summary of innovative learning methods in the field of science education.
